The Vatican Ecumenical Council voted 2057 to 4 to accept a fixed calendar if other churches do, and 2058 to 9 to fix Easter on the same Sunday yearly. It would leave calendar creation to civil authorities and keep a seven day week with Sunday.
London AP Sir Alec Douglas-Home told Khrushchev the limited nuclear test ban treaty promises fresh East West deals to end the arms race. It was his first message to the Soviet premier since replacing Harold Macmillan as prime minister on Oct 19. He replied to Khrushchev’s note on ratification of the treaty.
Sen. Barry Goldwater questioned Gov. Nelson Rockefeller's Republican credentials while reaffirming willingness to support Rockefeller if he becomes the GOP nominee to challenge President Kennedy.
