Consolidated Fund Checks Draw on School Accounts
More than half of the 4227.37 Consolidated School Fund sits in a First Agricultural National Bank checking account. A month earlier the school board tasked the executive committee to study why funds remain in checking rather than savings to earn interest. Current figures show 30428.06 in checking and 22799.31 in Union Federal Savings. Chairman William E. Harris said a transfer proposal is pending a final report. The fund covers small club and organization accounts merged in 1938 for efficiency and potential interest.

Charter Bus Franchise Shift Raises School Transport Costs
The committee heard Yellow Coach Lines will switch most charter routes to franchise runs to save money and secure year-to-year contracts. Weeks claimed annual savings of 4600 and said franchising supports mass transit and new buses, while a rebate exists only on franchise routes. Scullary supported the plan after assurance bid reversals remain possible. The change cuts contract school bus spending from 151441 to 43200 per year.
