Thieu Invites U S Students To See Vietnam War Facts

President Thieu invited 100 American students opposed to the Vietnam War to visit South Vietnam to dissipate misunderstandings. He offered visits to Independence Palace Hue Cemetery and soldiers in the field, saying many may change their minds. The trip followed a mass funeral in Hue for civilians killed during the Tet offensive. Thieu supported free expression of antiwar views but said most Americans back the allied effort.
