Californians Seek To Save Ice-Age Pines From Dozers
In La Jolla and Del Mar, a drive to save Torrey pines seeks 500000 to protect 1500 trees by adding habitat to a state park. The effort aims for state matching funds and faces a January deadline tied to Fletcher Co. land slated for private sale. The pines endure on rugged slopes, with only about 1800 remaining in the area.
