Synthetic caviar to be produced for all in Soviet Union
Soviet scientists say they created a synthetic caviar indistinguishable from the real thing. A Nedelya report notes the product could push caviar from luxury to common use and that artificial meat and berries may follow. The Institute of Elementary Organic Compounds developed it but process details are not disclosed. Club of the Melons forms in Madeira with a bald men membership rule.

Rent kept at Waldorf Astoria for Adlai Stevenson
State Department, urged by Rep. John Rooney, persuaded the Waldorf Astoria to maintain Adlai E. Stevenson’s annual rent at 33000 dollars rather than raise it to 45000. At a hearing Rooney pressed the hotel and UN chief administrative officer Edward Gaumond testified the hotel agreed after their suggestion to frame the increase as PR. Rooney noted a 12000 dollar saving from the decision. Promotion of Dr. Herbert Locksley to associate professorship at University of Iowa College of Medicine announced. Locksley is son of Aram and the former Pittsfield High School graduate earned his medical degree at Harvard in 1949.
