Springfield Jaycees schedule a public meeting Wednesday at 8 p.m. at the Springfield Union Federal Savings and Loan building to coordinate groups opposing water diversion from the Connecticut River to the Quabbin Reservoir. Mayor Frank Freedman will give a welcoming address.

He received a Bronze Star and Purple Heart for wounds endured with the 25th Infantry Division. The citation lauds meritorious service and clear thinking under combat conditions.
