Town Board acts to curb outside dumping in Chatham
The Chatham Town Board moves to stop garbage dumped on town lands after a report that a 1,000 acre swamp near the northern area was eyed by the Pure Waters Authority as a dump site. A unanimous resolution asks Gov Rockefeller to sign a bill requiring municipal consent for out of town dumping. The board also advertises a local law to ban outside garbage storage on town lands. The Albany note says Susquehanna Expressway to Binghamton and Schenectady should finish by mid 1974 with federal mileage help sought for highways toward the Northway near Latham.
