Young Couples Buy Homes Ahead of Time in Boom
Chicago report from the National Association of Real Estate Boards notes that purchases by young married couples, 25 to 31 years old, are rising. President Maurice G. Read cites factors such as lower payments, longer mortgage terms, smaller equity, and higher starting salaries as enabling more young families to own homes earlier. Between 1959 and 1964, over a million families under 30 used FHA financing to buy homes.
