Poor Level Of A Family Sets New Poverty Yardstick By Shriver
Washington. The report shows a new standard for poverty based on family size and urban rural living. Under the plan a four person family earning under 3310 annually or an individual under 1540 is poor, replacing the old 3000 and 1500 levels. The change follows criticism by the U S Chamber of Commerce who favored a market basket measure and regional cost variations.
