Marine Chief Calls for More U S Power in Viet Nam

Washington AP reports Marine Commandant General Wallace M Greene Jr urged using greater armed power in South Vietnam. He said additional Marines to reinforce the 8,000 to 9,000 already there depend on events, noting the Da Nang beachhead could enable necessary security and missions. He returned optimistic despite serious conditions.

Navy Planes Smash 2 Targets in North Vietnam

Navy planes bombed two major North Vietnamese depots near Hanoi and 75 miles south, destroying 19 buildings and damaging 13 others. 62 tons of bombs were dropped, with secondary explosions reported at one site. The Thien Linh Dong depot and the Phu Qui ammunition depot were struck, with railroad boxcars knocked out and a petroleum storage tank blown up.
