Reynolds Casts Doubt On Supervisors All Under One Roof

Pittsfield School Superintendent James P. Reynolds doubts feasibility of housing all supervisors in a single building due to space limits and roles requiring mobility. The School Committee debated the idea after an earlier motion to assign offices in Plunkett School basement was not carried out. Current supervisor bases include art, music, physical education, and other roles spread across Pomeroy, Plunkett, Mercer, and Pittsfield High.

Affirmative Wins Work Program Debate at Berkshire College

At Berkshire Community College the affirmative team led by David Knight and Mountfort Euston defeated the negative side in a split decision on the resolution that the federal government should establish a national work program for the unemployed. The debaters argued over unemployment causes, public works, and the value of CCC and WPA projects, while critics urged state or local solutions and avoiding federal payroll expansions. Judges were Frank Gorton, George H. Genzmer, and George J. Bagley.
