Schweitzer Eyes New Area Plant in Berkshire County
Schweitzer Division of Kimberly Clark plans a new million dollar mill employing about 75 in the Lee Lenox area or near Spotswood New Jersey. Decision due after early April at Schweitzer HQ in New York City with a $525 000 annual payroll and construction costs up to 1.5 million. Possible sites include a Ty ringham Valley tract in Lee owned by the New York New Haven Hartford railroad and a Lenox Dale site near Crystal Street opposite the Housatonic River. Schweitzer met with local officials in Lee and Lenox to discuss the project.
