Barrington court cases involve unregistered vehicles and fines

In Southern Berkshire District Court Robert Bloch of Sheffield was fined for operating an unregistered and uninsured vehicle, with appeals planned. Co-defendant Mark Hamilton faced charges over an unregistered and uninsured bike and headgear violations, later cleared on two counts but fined for the headgear infraction. Additional defendants included Alan Rice fined for registration and insurance offenses, David Johndrow for speeding, Otto Kaufmann for speeding, Keith Oakford for a red light, Robert Dontz for operating without authority, and Arthur Zucco for not observing due care. The page also lists local ads including car for sale and various shop notices.

Jr Golf Program Starts Tomorrow at Wyanmtenuck

GREAT BARRINGTON At Wyanmtenuck Country Club the junior golf program for the season opens Friday at 9 30. Girls and boys ages 7 through 16 are eligible for weekly Friday classes through Aug 29. Four Housatonic Boys Attend UMass Boys State

Four Monument Mountain Regional School juniors from Housatonic will join Boys State activities at the University of Massachusetts this week. Sponsored by Murphy Leary American Legion Post 298, Anthony Barbieri and James Bryan have expenses covered by the post, Michael Flynn by the Housatonic Fire Department, and Richard Parsons by Veterans of World War I Barracks 2255 of South Berkshire. The participants engage in simulated government at local state and national levels.

Model Planes and Guns Exhibit At Library

An exhibit of World War II model planes and period guns, created by Raymond Boyd of Glendale, is on display in the Ramis dell Public Library front display case. The summer reading club for grammar school children opened with over 73 kids earning first stickers this week. registration remains open until the end of next week.

Trout Stocking Reported Completed by Rod and Gun Club

Officials announce completion of the Williams River trout stocking totaling about 500 fish for the current season. At the last meeting Benjamin Koldys won a 23 dollar government bond. Next meeting set for July 8 at 7 p.m. in the fire station. Community events include a WSCS baked ham and bean supper on July 12 in church social rooms, a Murphy Leary American Legion past meeting next Wednesday at 7:30 p.m., and a teen dance at the Community Center sponsored by Corpus Christi Church parish council with over 100 attendees and more than 30 raised for a future event.

Laird Forms Committee To Appraise ROTC

Secretary of Defense Melvin R. Laird announces a nine member committee of educators and military officials to appraise ROTC programs amid campus protests. The panel will study relationships among ROTC programs across services and their links to universities faculties students and administrations and will meet for the first time in early July.

Washington AP Robert C Sprague head of Sprague Electric Co urged the Senate Armed Services Committee that deploying the Safeguard anti ballistic missile is absolutely essential. He warned failure to develop ABM could weaken the US bargaining position with the Soviets by the mid 1970s and emphasized the need to maintain leadership in deterrent technology.

Boy, 6, slain in Easthampton grave found. drifter charged

Mark LaCount, 6, who had been missing since Sunday, was found slain in a shallow grave near his Easthampton home. Ernest M. Archambault, 24, described by police as a temporary circus worker, was charged with murder and arraigned in Northampton District Court after moving to Easthampton from Florida.

Hartford Deputy Mayor calls crackdown on North End disorder

Deputy Mayor George Kinsella urged a firm response to recent North End disturbances in Hartford. He praised police restraint and said the city must take legal action to end lawlessness. He will submit a City Council resolution detailing steps to protect citizens rights and restore street safety.

North Adams weighs high school site study funding

Major James F. Cleary said North Adams probably cannot secure government funding for a $3,500 feasibility study on the Ashland Street high school site. He noted the Department of Community Affairs could not find a legal way to approve the expenditure, despite initial interest. Wheel Estates sold Mohawk Trail land to a resident group opposing the mobile park, recouping $30,000 from a $15,000 purchase, amid rezoning conflict that also influenced Councilman Robert E. Patenande’s decision not to seek re-election.

Canaan groups elect officers and honor long service

Paul Amenta was elected president of the Exchange Club succeeding Ross Beaujon with Gordon Pickett as vice president and Harlan P. Tracy and Norman F. Holt re-elected secretary and treasurer. Lanesboro Masses Listed For New Parish

The Rev. Frederick J. Moore announced that Masses for the new Lanesboro parish will be held at the Chapel of the North American Martyrs. Along with the 9 a.m. Mass, two more will begin this Sunday at 10:15 and 11:30 a.m. The parish headquarters will be at the chapel, and Father Moore will live at the rectory of St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Cheshire, for now. No parish name has been chosen yet.

Roeliff Jansen Ockawamick elects nine member board

Voters in the Roeliff Jansen Ockawamick School District chose nine board members after an eight hour session ending at 4 am Tuesday. Nearly 900 attended the start. about 200 remained for the ballot count. Five incumbents, two former Ockawamick members and two newcomers won five year to one year terms. Cheshire Lions Club Paper Drive Schedule

A Lions Club paper drive is set for Monday evening with a 6 30 p m meeting at the school yard. Two Vehicle Crash in Richmond Leaves Four Involved

A weekend two car accident at Swamp Road and Old Boys Club Road injured four people. Diane E Alexander, 17, of South Street Lanesboro drove east on Old Boys Club Road. Oscar Jaumotte and his wife Margaret Jaumotte of West Road were southbound on Swamp Road and were treated for facial cuts and bruises at Pittsfield General unit BMC. Mr Jaumotte was released. Mrs Jaumotte was reported in fair condition. The Jaumotte car, a late model Volkswagen station wagon, was demolished and the Fire Department washed gasoline from the road.
