Microslices of Moon Rock Reveal Iron Rich Bands
A University of Chicago team reports 200-atom wide dark bands in lunar pyroxenes that may be ferrimagnetic iron rich matter. Some experts doubt the finding, proposing exsolution in earth rocks as an alternative. Labs from Cambridge Manchester and USGS also report pyroxene banding and high magnification slicing.
