Court Rejects Challenge To School Sports Rule
A federal judge upheld Massachusetts schoolboy sports regulations barring players from representing both high school and other teams in the same season. The ruling denied a restraining injunction sought by five Acton hockey fathers who argued the rule violates the 14th Amendment and creates inadequate ice time for high school players. Judge Andrew A. Caffrey found no due process violation and allowed the rule to remain in effect as of January 5.
