Kodak unveils fast film processing system
Eastman Kodak Co announces a photo graphic system that processes film strips in seconds. A first picture develops in about five to six seconds and a finished frame can follow every 1.7 seconds from the second frame, with potential one fifth second rates. Primary use targets military radar tie ins and airborne surveillance, with possible hospital and news network applications. The compact unit, roughly a window air conditioner in size, runs eight to ten hours on a pint of special developer and cannot be used by amateurs.

He cites cheap shotguns and near 15 yard targeting as factors speeding the decline of tusked elephants and outlines the unlikely path to propagation with no tusks.
