A Philipine Airlines DC3 crashed on takeoff from Cebu City killing 28 of 37 aboard. Nine survived as the aircraft nosedived shortly after liftoff. The crash occurred three-fourths of a mile from the airport at 3 30 am local time. No Americans were aboard. President Garcia halted all overnight PAL flights until further notice.
