Play of Herod Opens in New York to Rave Reviews
The New York Pro Musica production The Play of Herod opened in New York for a limited run with enthusiastic reception. Financed by a Ford Foundation grant of 500000 dollars and directed by Nikos Psacharopoulos, the show featured Noah Greenberg leading the New York Pro Musica Antiqua and 400 performers. Critics praised the setting, sound, and unity of the production with superb costumes by Reuben Ter-Arutunian, as the play moved from the Cloisters to Chicago’s Rockefeller Chapel for 10 sold-out performances. Negotiations are in progress for foreign productions.
