GE Pittsfield manager Britton W. Saterlee says the City Council rejected the proposed picket regulation ordinance despite a petition from more than 3,000 Pittsfield citizens. He hopes constructive action will follow the council’s study by a special committee and cites concern over labor management issues.
Carroll J. Hickey's English honors class attended a one man performance of Moby Dick by Philip Hanson at Berkshire Community College. They will visit the Francine and Starting Clark Art Institute in Williamstown with South Junior High School art students, led by art teacher Nancy Delaiti.
Berkshire County must raise probation officers' salaries starting next July under state Commission on Probation guidance. Pittsfield District Court officers Torchio and Sanford receive higher pay, North Adams Lewis up, Adams Potter three quarters time, Great Barrington Watson half time, with Brown also increased.
Elizabeth E. Sandiford of North Adams leaves 1092 in personal property and 6200 in real estate per administrator's inventory. Frank M. Godfrey of Williams town shows 7.00 in real estate and 1800 in personal property in administrator's bond. Mary C. McCarty of Pittsfield leaves 25000 in personal property and 15000 in real estate for two daughters. Brown promotion notes include Williamstown probation officer, and county juvenile probation officers Walter Primmer and Mrs Lars Quinn with increased salaries.
