County Extension Service Ordered to Economize
Berkshire County Cooperative Extension Service must economize on travel and supplies as budget fights unfold in the state House. Regional administrator Albert Fuller said travel funds are cut unless Senate restores them and paper use is to be minimized. As of June 30 the county had spent 2183.41 of its 3000 travel line and 377.99 of 500 in paper. A White House letter from President Johnson accompanied the report to the White House Conference on Natural Resources.

Which Way To Go From Hodgepodge
Councilman Joseph Scelsi says Pittsfield voters may not get to vote this fall on a School Committee plan. The Charter Revision Committee proposed an 11 member board with ward and at large seats plus the mayor. A House bill offers four ballot alternatives, drawing criticism as a hodgepodge from Sen. Nutiforo. Scelsi backs ward representation and cautions Congress to present the original recommendation. The plan moves to the Senate for action before returning to the House.
