Distaff Side of the BSO Opens Doors for Women Musicians
The Boston Symphony Orchestra now includes four women among its players. Ann de Guichard joined in 1845, Olivia Lueteke began in 1951, Doriot Dwyer is principal flutist, and Lois Schaefer is piccolo. Replacements Ikuko Mizuno and Ann Hobson will join in September, with Carol Procter returning from Japan to bring five women into the BSO.
