Onota Lake Pike and reclamation plans discussed
An eight pound pike was shown by Nicholas Debacher from Berkshire County as part of Onota Lake fishing notes. The lake underwent a rotenone reclamation in mid August 1957 to remove warm water species, with 114% tons of fish killed and many bluegill perch and bass destroyed. The residual northerns survived, and the largest pike on record in Berkshire came from Onota in May 1961 weighing 20 pounds caught by Dominic Parreault and helpers.
