Northfield Mountain project to supply power and recreation
The Northfield Mountain project by Northeast Utilities will generate up to 1 million kilowatts for peak demand using a reservoir atop the mountain fed by the Connecticut River. It includes an 85 million dollar facility, four 800-foot generators, a pumping system to refill the reservoir at night, and extensive recreation plans with trails, parks, and boat launches.
