County Hay Crop Suffering From Drought in Berkshire
Berkshire County hay harvest has been badly reduced by a dry summer. Berkshire County Disaster Committee manager Emil Scholz reports that early season moisture shortfalls cut the first cutting below normal, and pasture lands run 30 to 40 percent of normal. The survey finds corn for winter feed promising but stressed by lack of rain, with local variations and low-lying areas hit hardest.
