Defecting Russian Writer Renounces Works in London
Anatoly Kuznetsov, the Soviet writer who sought asylum in London, renounced all his published works as distorted by censors. In a Sunday Telegraph statement he called himself dishonest and vowed to write freely as A. Anatol Kuznetsov. He also resigned from the Soviet Communist Party and the writers' union, rejected Marxism-Leninism, and urged officials not to persecute his family. He said he had planned to escape for a year and was willing to swim a frontier sea to freedom.
