Home Builders Leader Urges Backing New Lumber Standard
Eugene A. Gulledge of Greensboro urges approval of a uniform national lumber standard issued by the American Lumber Standards Committee. Ballots circulated to lumber producers, distributors, architects and builders aim to set separate dry and green lumber sizes, with green sizes slightly larger to account for shrinkage. The rule strengthens grading reliability, simplifies the National Grading Rule, and seeks lower costs, better resource use, and stricter quality control.
