Four acquitted in society vandalism case at debutante party
Four high society youths were acquitted of criminal charges over destruction at Fernanda Wetherill’s coming out party mansion in Southampton. Judge Thomas M. Stark criticized the conduct but ruled the prosecution failed to prove willful damage beyond $6,008. The mansion near the Leas estate served as overnight quarters for about 100 guests. Also, President Johnson will deliver the Coast Guard Academy commencement address on June 3 in New London, the White House said.
