Berkshire New CYO Center to Open for All Faiths

In Great Barrington a new Catholic Youth Organization center at Cottage and East streets aims to welcome Catholic and non Catholic teens starting in May. Under director Father John O'Donnell and with support from Bishop Welton and local committees, the center will host dances, plays, discussions, sports and more, funded by a May 1 opening dance. Events will be adult chaperoned with limited lighting and a single on duty officer, and aims to provide teens a supervised place to go, not joyride.

Mississippi Diary of a Harmony Project in the Deep South

A Berkshire group travels to Mississippi to aid a church construction at Mary Holmes Junior College in Maldon. They describe a tense racial climate with segregation discussions at MSU, mixed campus views, and local officials. The trip includes a crash near Alabama, a temporary stay, and the foundation pour for the church as work progresses amid weather, culture, and late nights.
