An assort ment of periodical notices and ads mentions refrigerator sales from McElroy and Lorenz Rose's summer drinks Kern's bakery and W L Brown bread and pies Lions Coffee premiums in Quinn's window and a Mag gie Carter outing on Cedar River. It notes July 4th observances in Vinton with Rev Hilscher Loveland and a dance of town folk, plus various local visits, bank openings and community happenings.
Lion Coffee premiums are showcased in Quinn's front window as local hustlers promote "the cup that cheers but does not intoxicate" to shoppers. Visitors include Miss Delia Egan of Sioux City, Iowa, staying with sister Mrs William Cisna, while the Pyne and Moon families visit Vinton relatives.

A Detroit man describes recovery from leg enlargement and fever under typhoid after six months on Dr C D Warners Compound of Seven Cures. Doctors had warned amputation, but he improved fully and kept the leg sound today. January 6, 1900.
