Big Colony May Locate In Valley

Messrs Gilbert and Thompson of Salt River valley visited in Arizona and New Mexico seeking a colony site. They toured the San Pedro valley, praised its soil climate and water, and plan to return after evaluating land offerings. Boquillas Land and Cattle sent about 26 carloads of cattle to Bakersfield, California, in good condition.

Reception Honors Prof Robertson and Family at Etz Home

A Benson event last night hosted by the H. W. Etz residence honored Prof H Q Robertson principal of Benson Union High School and his family. Nearly a hundred attendees enjoyed a literary musical program by Mrs Doane Merrill Miss Josephine Castaneda and others followed by refreshments and dancing at the K of P hall. The community praised the Robertsons’ charm and public spirit. A separate note advertises a sale on ladies and men's shoes by Ph M Mejia.

Desert Walker Rescued After Days on Pantano Desert

Wright Walker former Benson skating rink manager and actor wandered near Pantano for days without water or food. Rescued by John Purifoy and sherriff officers, he was taken to Tucson for treatment. Walker suffered fatigue and hallucinations amid perilous conditions before recovery at the county hospital.

Navajo and Santa Fe Scrip Approved for Moqui Lands

Telegram reports the secretary of the interior has overruled objections and approved filings for Moqui and Navajo land scrip, promising unreserved acres in Arizona, notably Sulphur Springs valley, to Santa Fe railroad scrip buyers at three dollars per acre. Also details on Geological Survey maps being sold via post offices and a Benson quadrangle map ready for distribution.

Boys' and Girls' Club Leader Visits Benson

Leland S. Parke state club agent in charge of Boys and Girls Club work from the University will visit Benson on September 27 and 28. He aims to meet with local clubs to instruct members and leaders on reports and expense charges. A lecture by the State Leader and member participation are planned with talks at schools if time allows.

The Sonoita community in Santa Cruz county will hold a two day fair on October 6 and 8 under the Santa Cruz County Fair Association. It is planned as the association's first annual fair and early signs point to strong success. Cleaning and pressing work by Mrs. Reddock is noted.
