Douglas Phoenix Road Race Route Approved by Board
The Board of Supervisors granted Arizona Fair Commission permission to use the county highway from Douglas via Bisbee Tombstone to Tucson for the Douglas Phoenix road race during fair week in November. Ferris returns as Benson pastor for next year
Reverend J. E. Ferris comes back from Prescott state conference to serve as pastor of the Benson church for the coming year. He will preach every Sunday evening. October 15 is the last day for state and county registration with an opinion sought on whether books close that day or the next. The Ladies Aid plans a home cooked food sale October 13 at the Benson Lumber store. The Douglas Dispatch notes circus and crowd activity around yesterday’s visit.

Death of Thomas F. Weedin Arizona official and former mayor
Thomas F. Weedin, register of the U S land office at Phoenix and former Florence mayor, died at his Phoenix home at 12 30 Sunday morning from blood poisoning after attempting to trim a corn. He was born December 15 1854 in Cooper county Missouri and came to Arizona in 1880. He edited for the Kansas City Times and the Omaha Herald, published the Florence Blade Tribune, served in the territorial legislature three times, and ran for governor as a Democrat before becoming land office registrar. He is survived by one daughter, Miss Jonnie F. Weedin. In related news, Henry L. Eads of Phoenix, Republican candidate for Congress, visited town from Nogales, noting his Missouri Senate experience and irrigation expertise in Salt River Valley.
