A concert and dance at the Auditorium Thursday is expected to attract many locals and visitors, with Tombstone and nearby towns sending a sizable party. The Fort Huachuca orchestra will provide music and lunch will be served, promising a royal reception for guests.
Property merchants recount a dispute over price cuts as negotiations stalled with Séhator Clark not being consulted about halving the asking price. The protracted talks reflect tensions in the mining market and local bargaining practices.
Saturday night last two auto logis of Benson's social set went to Tombstone and joined a dance. Fort Huachuca's 6th Cavalry Orchestra provided music and impressed the Bensonites. They were invited to Thanksgiving in Cochise County and many accepted. The party included Mrs Adrian Ajlen and several Misses and Messrs Coons Gilpin Goetz Castaneda Gribble Moss.
The sixth and seventh grade pupils of Robinson visited Miramonte last Friday night and presented a farce titled My Awful Aust. Miss Hortense Coplin wed Archibald Mickel Friday. The Relief Society plans a free turkey dinner next Thursday followed by a children’s dance and a 7 p.m. program and grand ball. Visitors include Howard Martineau in town with his mother and Ross Cox of Texas visiting Mr. and Mrs. Heber Davis.
A December 2 event at E P hall features Mrs Doane Merrill lyrie soprano and Mrs Gradine Gammage lecturer in a fundraiser for the Presbyterian church. Tickets are fifty cents and include songs from classics and lighter fare with Mr J C Long on flute. A Tucson appearance is planned for Monday November 29 under local club auspices.
The tenth chapter of The Diamond From the Sky will be presented tonight at the Rink Theatre. The photoplay has won favor with movie fans. A social hop will follow with first class music and extra reels of comedy and drama. The cash prize now stands at 10. Monday night a five reel feature Mrs Wiggins of the Cabbage Patch will replace the midweek show. The big turkey drawing will also be held Monday night.
Early Tuesday morning at least five hundred people gathered at the depot to glimpse the Liberty Bell, an American independence symbol. A special train carried the bell, with a gondola attached to the rear. souvenirs with its brief history were distributed from the car. Among the party were Senator Penrose and Lieut. Governor Frank McLain of Pennsylvania, and Charles Seger, chairman of the Liberty Bell Committee.
Tomorrow the usual services will be held with Rev Purves in the pulpit. Sunday school at 10 and preaching at 11 a m and 8 p m. A Ladies Aid sale offers roast chicken cakes pies cranberry sauce bread doughnuts celery parsley lettuce baked beans and home made candy for Thanksgiving dinner.
The county book announcing its resources is off the press and ready for circulation under J H Gray the county administration commissioner. It highlights mining cattle and agricultural industries in the San Pedro valley. includes topography soil climate and transportation and notes Benson as a key shipping point with high school and business facilities. Gray and Oscar K Goll organized data and illustrations for homeseekers and immigration, with wide distribution planned to reach thousands of homes.
Ed T. Lofgreen of Miramonte and Clarence Pomeroy of Mesa spoke at Sunday services. Pomeroy, homeward from Clifton where National Guard units were sent for a strike, attended. Elder Gillett preached on What Think Ye of the Christ Whose Son Was He at the schoolhouse. Doris Robertson of Benson visited Mrs. Cosby in Robinson. Water was shut off Sunday for tunnel cleaning. work finished Wednesday and water restored. The high school bus ran early Tuesday to view the Liberty Bell. Relief Society met at Mrs. Crosby’s home. David Sabin rents J. S. McGuire land and prepares to plant. Pres. Jos. E. Robinson of the California Mission of the LDS Church visited Wednesday with his daughter Kate and Miss Cora Howley. J. R. Cosby hauled material to add two rooms to his house. Lewis Scott painted his house. Chas. Clark and others were involved.

A tungsten mine eleven miles southwest of Benson shows rapid camp development with over thirty workers. Workers sink shaft, sample ore, and plan a concentrator. steam shovels will be added. The altered granite host wolframite at 2 to 3 percent could yield about 190 dollars per ton, with surface ore requiring little dead work. The property is controlled by a Miami syndicate.
The Ladies' Aid of the M KE church met November 18 at Mrs W L Bridges home. They organized a food sale for November 24 in the Zeek building and showed strong willingness to contribute to the society's work. Refreshments were served. The next meeting is December 2 at Mrs Latra Blacklidge's home.
