Mrs. Jones Dies After Tuberculosis Battle

Mrs. Jones wife of Dr. J F Jones died Tuesday morning after a long illness with tuberculosis. The couple had moved from Linn Missouri to improve her health. three children Una Paul and Marybelle survive. Funeral services were held Tuesday with burial in the local cemetery and the family planned to return to Lynn.

Kimball Receives Carload of 83 Overlands

A shipment of 83 model Overlands totaling four autos was unloaded for H. C. Kimball the Overland agent. One car went to Tucson one to Willcox one to Johnson and the fourth to I. D. Redfield. The 83 model is praised for rough service and modest price with demand expected to outpace production.

Local and County Fairs Contemplated in the County

County farm advisor A. L. Paschall urges communities to plan local fairs this fall with support from the University Agricultural Extension Service. Last-week of September or early October suggested, before the county fair on about October 15. He recommends forming a Town Improvement Association and Community Eye Circle to boost exhibits and poultry and eggs industry for Benson and the region.

State land rules and Benson mosquito drive outlined

The Arizona AG says a land buyer can lease 160 agricultural and 640 grazing acres and purchase the same amounts. total control up to 1600 acres possible. In Arizona road bonds only taxpayers may vote, with Cochise County highway bonds viewed favorably. Benson townsfolk urged united action against flies and mosquitoes using traps and oils, praising Rev. Thos. Hambly’s good roads leadership during a visit from Willcox.

Willcox to Host Arizona Methodist Conference This Fall

Rev Hambly announces the Arizona Conference of the Methodist church will gather in Willcox starting October 7 with Bishop Hughes of San Francisco presiding. Four general secretaries will attend, offering a rare treat for Willcox residents and neighbors. He extends an invitation to Benson residents as well.

Auditorium to Furnish New Amusements in Town

Mr. E Galpin will open another picture house in the Auditorium within two weeks. The program includes four thousand feet of licensed film with a three reel feature, two new stage illusions by Manager Walker, and a three person vaudeville act titled His Name Was Never. The opening date will be announced in the SIGNAL.

Cochise County Tops State Valuation Gains in 1914 Update

State board of equalization reports Arizona total valuation up over 15 million dollars from 1913 to 1914. Cochise County leads with an increase of 8.62 million, followed by Gila at 6.09 million. Maricopa and Greenlee show declines as farming areas shift values. Mines and mining property drive most gains, with railroads and livestock rising while farming lands fall.
