County road mileage plan grows to 512 miles
Cochise County Road bond committee in Bisbee raised proposed mileage from 476 to 512 miles with two bridges at Charleston and Palominas. Next meeting in September at Douglas will finalize mileage and petitions for elections. Benson district gains 40 miles with most river road still limited.

Former deputies Moore and Fenter convicted of second degree murder
In Tucson on Monday Moore and Fenter former Pima County deputy sheriffs were found guilty of second degree murder in the Hilario Leon case. They were sentenced to ten years to life in Florence State Penitentiary. Each man expressed remorse when asked to speak before sentencing.

Canning Demonstration At Robinson
The Rob inson district ladies and girls attended a canning demonstration Tuesday afternoon led by Leland S. Parke state leader of boys and girls' club work for the University of Arizona with federal cooperation. Parke showed the cold pack method highlighting less stove work, preserved shape and color, blanching removes acids, cleanliness, reduced losses, and good results with corn beans and peas. The method sterilizes components and was developed by the U S Department of Agriculture. A canning club formed by the girls, with honorary members among older women, and literature available from Parke in Tucson Arizona.

Idlers Break Camp In Whetstone Mountains
The Idlers, six young ladies, ended a two week camping trip in the Whetstone mountains yesterday and returned to Benson. They spent days gathering biutes and singing by the camp fire each night. They slept and ate in the open except during rain and all came back in good health.
