The text lists grounds for exemption from military service under the conscription law. Discharge grounds include being a county or municipal officer, a custom house clerk, U S mail transmission employee, armory worker, U S service employee under certain conditions, licensed pilot, mariner in sea service, married with dependents, widowed parent, aged or infirm parent, father of a motherless child or brother of orphans, or a member of a religious sect opposing war existing May 18 1917. Army Examinations For 665 Cochise County Draft Quota
Washington reports set to begin on around August 3 for the first draft of 687000 men. Cochise County quota totals 665 after subtracting National Guard and Federal service registrants. 1330 candidates will be examined. Examinations for transfer to another district require sheriff papers, and exemption petitions must be filed within seven days after examination.
