Rushing Work On New Toll Line Between Benson and El Paso

Foreman Q O C Joy of Mountain States Telegraph and Telephone Company leads linemen in constructing a new toll line from Benson to El Paso. The line extends about fourteen miles eastward with crews replacing poles in town and vicinity and at Willcox and Lordsburg. The company aims to have the line operational quickly to meet demand for improved telephone service.

Crazed Belgian Taken from Train

A young Belgian named Bechout, described as suddenly insane, was removed from S. P. train No. 1 by constable John Proffitt and jailed until Monday. He was declared insane at Tombstone and later sent to Phoenix with Deputy Sheriff A. W. Howe. His ticket showed travel from Moline Illinois to San Francisco California and papers indicated funds sent to a sister in the French army and a brother in San Francisco.

The Annual Meeting of Bank of Benson stockholders on February 6 elected H W Etz C E Goetz B Maier B J McKinney J H Getzwiller AG Smith M W Smith P W Hamilton and A H Wren to a nine director board for the coming year. A new burglar proof safe is on display and officers to be chosen February 13. In Dragoon Robert Giles and wife welcomed their son Malcolm Morris born February 6 at 9 p.m. both mother and child well.

Sunday School Institute Held at Presbyterian Church

A Sunday School Institute met Thursday afternoon and evening at the Presbyterian Church. Rev E D Raley spoke on The Standard Sunday School and That Boy with a focus on community belonging and individual responsibility. W D Himebaugh and Mrs Doane Merrill contributed, and Arizona leaders noted for national Sunday School work were mentioned. A separate Alii Primi Club gathering occurred at Marguerite Wilson’s home with Valentine games. a church meeting for Sunday School work was planned. also an ad sought 100 turkeys addressed to C W Frost in Benson Arizona.
