Superior Judge Sanford ruled he had no jurisdiction and the case was removed from court. Merrill expects Campbell to be inaugurated January first and a potential recount suit by Hunt could delay final results for months.

Community Christmas Tree a Great Success
Benson’s Christmas spirit filled the Auditorium as hundreds attended the event. The tree glittered with candles ornaments and gifts while more than 300 candy bags and fruit were handed to children. Grammar school pupils performed Mrs Ruggle’s Family and the organizers led by Chairman H Q Robertson earned high praise.

The jitney carnival last Saturday organized by Benson Union High School drew town crowds and fun from a parade and on site features. It netted nearly fifty dollars for the school athletic fund as teachers and pupils offered moving pictures lunch stands candy booths and fortune telling. The parade featured a jitney band wagon horses clowns burros and costumed paraders with a baby in short pants among the spectators.
