College of DuPage Starts Earn and Learn Secretarial Program
The College of DuPage launches a two year Earn and Learn secretarial science program. Businesses in DuPage and parts of Cook and Will counties will hire students half day or alternate quarters while students study full time in related courses. Participants may continue with a work station after earning an associate degree and college credit is awarded for approved participation. Interested students may contact coordinator Robert J. U of I Honors Three Area Graduates
Three graduates from Lake Park and Fenton High Schools were honored by the University of Illinois for top academic achievement in their first college semester. Robert Marshalla of Lake Park and Helga Kahr and Michael Gibson of Fenton joined 119 freshmen with straight A averages, about 2 percent of the class. The Illinois Mothers Association donated books to the Fenton and Lake Park libraries in their honor.

79 year old bowler wins most improved award
John Bartholomae a 79 year old shipping clerk from Wood Dale received a belt buckle from the Wood Dale Merchants Bowling League for the most improved average. His score rose 12 pins to 135 this season. He plans to return for the summer league starting June 10.
