Itasca businesses discuss forming a regional chamber after a village size rejection of a consolidated group. Bendtsen cites strong business interchange among north DuPage communities and urges active initial participation rather than passive dues paying.
About 325 acres between Illinois Route 83 and Lemond Road south of Joliet Road will be used under a five year public use agreement. Argonne National Laboratory retains ownership while allowing the forest preserve district to operate camping and nature study sites as a demonstration forest for watershed management. No buildings are allowed, and the land links two parcels to Rocky Glen Forest Preserve.
Registration forms for Medinah Park District summer programs are mailed today and due by June 10. Return to Medinah North or South School. Fees are $2 per class per pupil. offerings include dancing arts and crafts baton twirling softball and library use. Programs start June 16 and run six weeks.
The Bensenville Village Board accepted the resignation of William A. Redmond after 22 years as village attorney with no replacement named. Redmond, a state representative from the 37th District, said higher legislative demands made him unavailable. He remains attorney for Westmont and Berkeley villages and for Fenton High School District 100, Bensenville Elementary School District 2, and Bensenville Community Library District.
Bensenville officials trade jests as Harold Koehler hails Village President John Varble and a strong board while Warble asks about a raise. Local notes mention Lions International lodging, water questions, police, and park upgrades as parts of a wide village roundup.
The Bensenville Park District will raise prices on its pool and miniature golf passes after June 1. A combined pass increases from 25 to 30 dollars while the pool pass jumps to 22 dollars. Pool offices in Central Park operate 10 am to 5 pm daily and 10 am to 3 pm Saturdays.
Mr and Mrs Robert L Riordan of Bensenville will accept a posthumous Silver Star for Marine Pfc Patrick C Riordan. Brigadier Gen Robert P Keller will present at Flick Reedy Corp in Bensenville. Riordan was killed May 19 1968 in Quang Tri Province Vietnam while his unit cleared a road toward Khe Sanh. He attended Maine Township West High School and enlisted May 25 1967. He is buried in Ridgewood Cemetery Des Plaines.

Itasca police heard about the theft of a mason’s mortar mixer reported by a Chicago firm in the Central Manufacturing District. The $1 025 mixer bears a flower decal and was taken between late Wednesday afternoon and Thursday morning, possibly by a vehicle with a trailer hitch.
John Varble, village president, says the Chicago Department of Public Works will push ahead with a 244 acre O’Hare storm water retention and recreation project in northeast Bensenville costing over 6 million dollars. A steering committee including Bensenville Park District and DuPage agencies will meet in the village hall to discuss the plan affecting about 90 homes, with 28 of 84 questionnaires returned showing six to one support for displacement.
In a Friday mock vote at Fenton High and Blackhawk Junior High, students backed a 21 cent tax rate increase proposal. Fenton students favored it 924 to 399 while Blackhawk pupils supported 374 to 206, using leftover ballots from a past election.
