Peking UPI report says Chinese Premier Chou En Lai and Japanese Prime Minister Tanaka planned a joint statement at 10 am Friday in the Great Hall of the People signaling the restoration of diplomatic relations. They held talks with Mao Tse-tung, visited the Imperial Palace, and prepared for a news conference in Beijing.
