Kentucky church serves a lone congregation twice monthly
Clover Hill Methodist Church outside Elizaville relies on Miss Ollie Spencer. At 81 she funds the pastor’s salary, contributes to missions, maintains the building, and hosts services for her one woman congregation. Reverend Harry Oldaker conducts services twice a month, visiting her home in bad weather. She gardens, cans produce, and refuses to sell the 130 acre tract seeking to keep the church alive. In Kenosh Wisconsin a Lutheran missionary speaker says Western methods can still build rapport with African and Asian communities through thoughtful service.
