Interstate 91 Expansion Near Norwich Vermont Opens
Vermont officials will open 4.5 more miles of I-91 between White River Junction and Norwich by early October, bringing total mileage to 76.5 from the Massachusetts line to a US 5 ramp near Norwich Village. The 3.2 mile fall section relieves congestion for Wilder Norwich and US 5, with 1.3 miles completed in 1967 opening this fall. The project introduces break-away sign posts and new railings under federal safety rules, reflecting scenic design to reduce driver hypnosis and boost area industry and recreation.
