Two Pownal Girls Die In Head On Crash

A two car head on collision on U.S. 7 near Jackson Crossing Road killed 13 year old Diane Della Chaffee and 2 year old May Cindy Chaffee. Their mother 42 Mrs Lawrence A Chaffee was hospitalized in critical condition with severe injuries.

100 ft Ladder Used To Free Boy From Cliff

Augusta Montana AP report describes two Augusta carpenters A R Bender and Charles Welsh building a 100 foot ladder from boards to rescue 10 year old Bruce Krummel trapped on a cliff ledge over 20 hours. The boy, on a weekend fishing trip with his parents from Great Falls, was rescued after 125 feet up the Sun River area with two prior failed attempts and an Air Force helicopter diversion due to darkness.

Old Bennington Votes Tonight On Zoning Plan

Old Bennington voters gather at 8 tonight at the Old Bennington Schoolhouse to decide a proposed zoning ordinance.
