Vermont GOP rejects withdrawal plank at platform meeting
Delegates at the Vermont Republican platform convention in Montpelier rejected a January 1972 deadline for U S troops withdrawal from Vietnam while adopting a plank supporting an early end to the war. The antiwar position was offered by Robert Marsh of Poultney. Democrats also backed a withdrawal plank but with no deadline. About 200 attendees approved planks on no new taxes in 1971 a balanced budget and reform of state finances. Gov Deane C Davis proposed exempting the first 7500 of pension from income tax and urged a 10 year 800 million bonding plan for sewage treatment facilities amid warnings on debt service.

Ky to visit Paris and U.S. to advocate Vietnam cause
Vice President Nguyen Cao Ky of South Vietnam plans a trip starting Tuesday to Paris and the United States to present Vietnam's case for the war effort.
