Medina acquitted on separate charge in My Lai killings case

Medina Kenneth A. Howard was acquitted on a separate count after Gene Oliver of Fort Lauderdale testified he killed the boy on his own. The court’s third murder specification, called “the big one” by Bailey, charged Medina with allowing his men to kill 100 Vietnamese civilians during a March 16 1968 My Lai sweep. The government contends Medina knew of the killings, deliberately did nothing, and thus encouraged the killings to continue.
