Stafford sworn to Senate to back draft vote
Robert T. Stafford was sworn in as U S senator to succeed the late Winston Prouty of Vermont. Governor Deane Davis expedited the appointment to allow Stafford to vote on the draft bill, with Aiken present to welcome him. A special election for Prouty’s seat will be held January 7, and Stafford’s House successor will also be chosen.

Woodford Board backs Sleeman for superintendent post
The Woodford School Board voted unanimously to limit the SVSU superintendent search to George Sleeman, assistant to retiring Supt. Catherine Corcoran. Sleeman is the leading, and currently sole, candidate and is praised as the best man for the job. Lawton Harrington noted the vote aims to prevent a broader search and to secure Sleeman’s early appointment, possibly by March 15.

Rev Reynolds estate in Hoosick Falls set at millions
Hoosick Falls N Y Rev Dr Edith Craig Reynolds who died Sept 3 left an estate estimated at 2.5 to 3 million dollars per preliminary letters of administration by Rensselaer County Surrogate Matthew M Dunne. The will lists 141 individual bequests and 22 organizations including Russell Sage College 200000 and a large GM and DuPont stock holdings with bonds. Other legatees include Miss Winifred Howard Scotland and Ada Grace England each receiving 50000 and 250000 to Mrs Reynolds Hoosick Falls Health Center Inc 150000 plus 1000 in a separate bequest. Arthur R Armstrong Hoosick Falls business manager was bequeathed 200000 plus property and personal effects. The will not yet probated and details remain subject to court action.
