Vermont ski areas barred from temporary pollution permits
Vermont Water Resources Commissioner Martin Johnson ruled ski area operators cannot obtain temporary pollution permits for expansion that would lower water quality. Any plan must include adequate sewage treatment facilities, and only facilities already violating the 1970 act may be issued temporary permits. A separate note reports RAF mascot Fred the falcon returning home after an AWOL search, found 100 miles away perched in a tree.
