Thomas A. Gee president of Southern Vermont College and U S Senator John Glenn recall Ohio political battles at a Ludlow event. Gee managed Glenn in the 1970 Democratic primary against Howard Metzenbaum, who won that primary but lost to Robert Taft Jr. in the general election. Metzenbaum later filled Saxbe’s vacancy as U S attorney general appointee. In 1974 Glenn defeated Metzenbaum in the primary and beat Ralph Perk in the general election.
