Two Massachusetts men to appear in Bennington court
Two Massachusetts youths face Bennington Municipal Court Friday after being found at 6 am Monday removing pumpkins from Weyers farm on Vermont 346 in North Pownal near the New York line. They used the pumpkins as bowling balls, rolling them down a hill and smashing them on the highway. Solomon Wright Library Board of Trustees announced new books from the Stanley F White Memorial Book Fund. About 150 books, mostly for young people, are on order with a special bookplate designed by a niece of the late Mr. White to be placed in each book. The library also received a copy of the AMA's Today's Health Guide.

Nature Walk in Dorset amid ferns and forest paths
Edith, Susan, and I trailed along a brook through canoe birch to a repaired bridge near the purple fringed orchid. Susan inhaled fern scents, noted the New York and Massachusetts ferns, and chose fronds for a scrapbook. We observed a pileated woodpecker in a rotted maple, marked plant sites, climbed a bent tree marker, and heard spring birds before ending in cool, quiet woods with reflections on summer’s passing.
