Cost of Grand List Delay Examined at Meeting

Peking Denies Peace Talk on Vietnam War

Tokyo based Japanese correspondents report Chinese Foreign Minister Chen Yi ruled out U S China talks on the Vietnam war and kept a hard line toward the United States and the Soviet Union. The Japanese Liberal Democratic mission in Peking said its supplement to Chen’s statement deleted references to possible talks, stressing that the problem must be solved by the Vietnamese government and people. Zoning Action Sought On Bothersome Bunnies

Trustees of Bennington Village moved to issue a warrant over rabbits kept on 1016 County St in an R 2 district. George Foucher and village attorney John H. Williams described the case as a health and eyesore issue with neighbors allegedly selling rabbits not for domestic use. A trial could test the ordinance and penalties may reach 20 dollars per day from warrant issue.

Enrollment Up 11 Percent in Bennington District Schools

Enrollment in the Bennington School District’s elementary system rose 11.2 percent from the previous year, aided by extended kindergarten classes. The board approved reshuffling fourth graders to balance Molly Stark and Bennington Elementary classes, and added three elementary teachers plus one PE and one music teacher as enrollment grows.
